Simplicity is a key for happy life.

We as humans have been evolving for millions of years. We have come this far — able to generate electricity, build mobile phones and computers, connect with anyone around the world with a tap of a finger, and even send groups of people into space. However, have we ever wondered why overall happiness seems to be falling even as our technologies advance? It seems paradoxical: we should feel happier because we possess so many convenient tools and devices meant to make life easier and better.

Personally, I think we have advanced so much that global information is literally a second away. We peer into others’ private lives on a screen and begin to imagine that if we were like them, we would be happier. Yet that quickly becomes a cruel circle: we catch up, only to be tempted by something new the next moment. Each novelty sparks fresh desire, and the wanting never ends. At times we must pause and ask whether what we see on screen is true, fair, or worth imitating. We have grown overly attached to the convenience that our tools and technologies provide — phones, the internet, and more — and we chase the latest simply because it will make our friends envious. Our expectations have swelled; lose your phone for a day and you may feel unsettled or upset the whole time.

The ultimate key to living happily is simply to live life in a gentle, uncomplicated way. Our lives are naturally simple, yet we human beings often make them unnecessarily complicated. Modern life fills our days with too many demands and distractions that society encourages so we stay busy and distracted. What life truly asks for are simple comforts: a nourishing meal, a slow walk in the park to move the body and calm the mind, and the time to do what we genuinely love—whether that is a meaningful career or running your own small business. If you ever forget your mobile phone at home, let it be forgotten for the day and notice how much more there is beyond the screen. You don’t need to multitask; we have plenty of time. Slow down, focus on one thing at a time, and you will grow more skillful and present. Once you’ve mastered one thing, you can gently add another. Clear your home of items that don’t serve your life, and make space for what matters. Finally, savour the small gifts: the first light of morning, a perfectly cooked meal, the warmth of a hot coffee—these quiet pleasures are the rhythm of a simple, joyful life.

In conclusion, gently release unnecessary things and switch off the screen; step outside for a walk, enjoy a simple, nourishing meal, and give your full attention to one thing at a time. When you choose to live more simply and mindfully, you’ll discover true happiness — a quiet joy that’s been all around you all along.
