Our Hair soap

Our hair soap is not like the typical syndet or other shampoo bars you might find on the market today. Instead, it is a thoughtfully crafted, simple cold-processed soap, intricately formulated with a selection of unique Australian native ingredients that work together to gently cleanse and nourish both the scalp and hair. You may find yourself wondering why we don't create a shampoo bar like others do. We explored the options for making a shampoo bar, but we discovered that most syndet bars are composed of various natural-derived ingredients rather than truly natural ones that respect the essence of our planet. Additionally, these bars often require the use of preservatives to combat mold and bacteria growth, especially in warm and humid environments. We wanted to avoid that for the sake of purity and health.

After thorough research and consideration, we found a wonderful solution. We can continue to use cold-process soap to wash our hair, and with just one additional step that we recommend undertaking every fortnight, you can enhance your experience. This step involves a mild acid rinse that rejuvenates your scalp and hair. By mixing apple cider vinegar, fresh lemon juice, citric acid, and other natural acidic ingredients with water to create a gentle rinse, we can effectively restore the pH balance of both the scalp and hair. This refreshing rinse not only removes any leftover residue but also leaves your hair looking shiny, healthy, and glossy. Furthermore, we encourage you to exfoliate your scalp with a scalp exfoliator, which is quite easy to find online, once a week for optimum results. We understand that it may seem like an extra step in your routine, but when it comes to nurturing our bodies and caring for nature, sometimes a little additional time is a worthy sacrifice. So, why not give this nourishing ritual a try?

Our Pre-shampoo Conditioning Bar

This pre-shampoo hair conditioning bar is thoughtfully made using a simple method that blends Australian native bush ingredients with nourishing macadamia oil to enrich hair before shampooing. We developed this bar as an alternative to typical conditioning bars because most on the market use BTMS-50, a conditioning emulsifier derived from rapeseed oil. Without BTMS-50, conventional conditioning bars often lack the silky, smooth texture after rinsing, since that ingredient helps oil and water phases form an emulsion that leaves a soft feel on the hair. Although BTMS-50 is naturally derived, its production requires extra resources and energy, which runs counter to our principle of crafting products from raw, minimally processed natural ingredients, so we chose to create our own pre-shampoo conditioning bar instead.

Our conditioning bar works more like a hair mask than a conventional conditioner because it is made without BTMS-50. If you use it the same way as an ordinary conditioner and apply it after shampooing, rinsing will not create a milky emulsion and it can leave a sticky, heavy feel. Therefore the bar is designed to be used before shampoo: rub the bar between your hands to warm and soften it, melting the nourishing oils, then apply from the mid-lengths to the tips of your hair. Leave the product on for 5–10 minutes to allow the oils to penetrate, then shampoo as usual. Macadamia oil, a primary ingredient, is rich in oleic and linoleic acids and contains natural keratins that penetrate deeply to nourish and repair hair structure. It helps create a protective barrier along the hair strand to revitalise damaged hair and combat frizz, improving manageability — making this conditioning bar suitable and beneficial for all hair types. In addition, a rich blend of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals drawn from Australian native botanicals, infused into nourishing macadamia oil, will help improve and strengthen overall hair health, leaving your hair shinier, more resilient, and naturally glossier.
