Let’s take care of our environment by being aware of how we live.
plant indigenous plants in your garden.
My motto always be “some plants better than no plants at all” because without plants we would have no food, no shelter, and even no life. We all know how important plants are for us, animals, insects, and our world. Plants give life to all of us. However, not all plants are equal, but how? Many of us has been taught about bees and butter flies and how they and plants are part of each other’s. However, they are not only these 2 species who play an important role of ecology, there are plenty of others, spiders, swallows, mammals, fish, and so on which all be part of the earth. In each continent will have a different species of their own. And this when indigenous plants are vital. Many of native species are only attracted to native plants, in comparison like me, Asian descendant, who like Chinese broccoli over broccoli. This also apply to our native species who only like Australian native plants. Since we have built some structure that we use as home, gym, markets, and other’s purpose over the land where there are still others species exist and they need the land as much as we do and we take advantage of how advance we are to dominate the area without even ask their permission, good news that we can do better and be better as an evolved species by giving back to them with a small gesture, but can provide a huge impact if we all together help a little by little by planting indigenous plants in our garden and not only make our garden to be our food forest but we can make our food forest to be our native wildlife food forest as well. I guarantee that once you grow indigenous plants on your area in your gardens, your garden will attract many native faunas and be their home and shelter and that will inspire you to keep on going and even inspire your neighbours to do the same. Then we will become a true community that involves human, insects, and plants all together. Not only they are great for our native wildlife, indigenous plants are also great for our environment due to their adaptability to this continent which mean they only require little to none maintenance once they establish, so less energy and resource require to grow them which we can reserve them where we actually need.
Grow your own vegetables and fruits.
We talk about growing food forest in above topic which are an amazing way to live sustainably. Many of leafy greens, herbs, vegetables, and fruits are so easy to grow in our small backyards, for instance, lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes, basils, and so on. Rather than we have to purchase all vegetables and fruits at the supermarket which great numbers of them are being grown in controlled conditions in a farm for optimum quality, juicy, and fresh looking for our consumption. Growing fruit and vegetables this way consume vast amount of resource and energy to ensure that they are look supremely perfect, pesticide has been overly using to kill pests, chemical fertiliser has been used, and they come along way 1000 of km before arriving at the markets. The chemicals that have been use to grow beautiful, tasty looking food can kill others beneficials insects, stay in the soil for years and destroy the biological in the soil, making soil become toxin for generations. Some can get wash off and mix into water ways and kill many of marine lives. In addition, shipping these goods from 1000 kms in refrigerators car will consume vast amount of energy and produce vast amount of pollution. Therefore, we encourage each of us to grow our own as much as we can. We are aware that many of us does not have a big piece of land, and plenty of time to be a green thumper. There are plenty of variety that you can grow fruit tree under 2m tall, and hardy vegetables that require less care and less space. Not only you will have a joy of growing your own food, and you also can be sure that what you grow will not be contaminated with dangerous chemical. Growing your own food will help you help the earth in many ways.
Apply slow fashion practice.
First, we need to explain what is a first fashion is. Fast fashion when we mass produce whatever style of clothes that models wear on the run way in a cheap production, so these clothes are able to be sold fast and have less value, so once a new fashion trend start in a next few days, consumers are happy to ditch the clothes that they purchase two days ago for a new rang. Unlike in the past when clothes were made with delicate processes from buying a fabric, design, and made them and they being sold in their reasonable value, so quality was amazing and last longer than modern days cloth. However, they are also cloth how bad would they be? Because this fast fashion is focusing on super affordable, and fast turnaround, so they will select fibre normally from polyester, acrylic, and other plastic based fibre because of their durability, easy to work with, and cheap value, but these materials are harmful to our world because they will stay on earth for million years. If they start to decompose, they material itself is a toxin to soil and water way. Not only fast fashion use plastic-based materials, they also use synthetic dye which is harmful for marine life if it is leak into water way. In addition, what make them worse is their cheap value. To make them in cheap price for public, many company opt to have their production oversea where in a cheap labour country. These people are exposed to these chemical everyday and get paid even less than a dollar a day sometimes, so not only fast fashion is hurting the earth, it also hurt our human being also. Therefore, me, myself would recommend you to shop from handmade garment seller who create their garment with natural fibre, local business would be ideal to be more ecofriendly. Although the price of this natural fibre and natural dyed dress may be expensive, but that will teach us to value this piece of creation and wear for years and years, so less waste going in to our earth and they can naturally decompose without hurting the world.

There are plenty of ways that we can implement in our life in order to live in harmony with our nature. Please do not forget that we take many lands on the earth to build our home and other infrastructure to be our life convenience, but this world does not have only human as residents, there are many other species who reside in this world with us as well.
